Today we wrote and talked about chapter 7 and then students had most of the period to work on missed work and ten pages of chapter 8.

Recitations, Day 2

Today we finished the Poetry Out Loud recitations and then read some more of chapter 7.

POL & LotF

Today we did the first half of the poetry presentations and everybody did great! We wrapped up the period reading a bit more of chapter 7.

Chapter 6 Wrap Up

Today we divided the period in three, opening the day with some time to wrap up the chapter 6 work we started Monday, then moving to a quiz to make sure we were paying attention while reading, and finally to starting chapter 7.

Poetry Presentations begin tomorrow. Don't forget to practice!

POL Practice

Today we headed to the library where looked at the POL scoring rubric and made sure students understood how they will be graded on Thursday when we begin presentations. Students then had a chance to practice recitations multiple times with peer partners. Finally, we headed back to the classroom for an exit ticket and some time to work on the chapter 6 DJ we began in class yesterday.

Chapter 5: The Status of Civilization

Today we practiced reciting our poems and then had some work time. We wrapped up by reading a bit of chapter 5, which is due tomorrow.

Chapter 4

After a quick quiz, we talked about the chapter and then students had some time to work on their DJs.

Monday & Tuesday

Monday, we spent the period looking at a quotation about leadership and then finishing up chapter 3. Students should read chapter 4 for homework by Wednesday.
We spent Tuesday working on poem annotations for Poetry Out Loud. Annotations are due today, 12/4.
