Argument Prep

Today we reviewed argument writing in preparation for the timed essay tomorrow and the formal essay we'll begin next week.

Argument & Presentations

After starting our review of argument writing, groups presented one more time and ended the day with a bit of self-evaluation.

Presentation Time

After a few moments of prep, groups presented their projects to each other and evaluated each other's work.

Presentations Begin... Sort Of...

After reflecting on the rubric, groups had 20 more minutes to tighten up their presentations before giving them a run through at the end of the period. Actual presentations will begin tomorrow.

Project Work Day

Groups had the period to work on their presentations, focusing especially on the written analysis in their notebooks. Presentations will begin partway through the period on Monday.

Last Day for the Final Project

After spending some time with the rubric, students worked on their final individual project (due now), and we wrapped up with a little focusing activity for tomorrow's group project.

More Project Time

After a quick review of plot and conflict, students continued their individual final project.

The Final Project, Part 1

After a quick warm-up, we went over and students had time to begin the final individual project for the literature circle unit. The handout is available at our Class Page.

Thanks & Final Posters

After writing some thank you notes to our Human library presenters from yesterday, students had a chance to finish their character posters.

Thursday & Friday

Thursday, most groups finished their books and started work on the character silhouette project. Friday, we split time between that project and Khan Academy.

PSAT Prep...Mostly

Today we spend pretty much the whole period filling out the PSAT testing packet in preparation for the test next week on 3/14.

Monday and Tuesday

Monday we review conflict and read a bit.

Tuesday we considered the plots of our novels as a whole.
