More TKM Background

Today students got copies of To Kill a Mockingbird and then we finished up our notes on the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, the Jim Crow era, and the Civil Rights Movement.

Today students finished revisions, completed their cover sheets at Unified Classroom, and turned in their final draft essays. Have a great break!

Drafting Continued

Students continued drafting their research essays today, with a short break for stretching and poetry. Some moved on to the revision process.

Essay Drafting

Most students are well into the drafting of their essays by now. We're looking at rough drafts being complete by Wednesday. Everything you need is at Unified Classroom.

Essay Drafting Time

Students had the period to work on their essays. Many got partway through the body.

Hooks and Intros

Students had the chance to work on their hooks and intros in class today. Tomorrow should be dedicated to writing. Slides and handouts are at the class page.

Planning and Outlining

Today some students continued researching and some started on their planning and outlines, completing the argument organizer and the outline at Noodletools (see below).

More Research

Students applied what they learned yesterday and got some good research done today.

Research and Noodletools

Ms. Mitchell, the librarian, led us through an introduction to the SIRS database and Noodletools (slides 18 through 27 of the slide show posted at our class page). Students refined their topics at the database and then created a Noodletools account, new project, and notecard for a single source.
